Starting my year as a freshman at POSTECH was one of the biggest turning points of my life, and it has already been quite a ride for the past two months. I have to admit that as much as it was fun and exciting, it was also demanding. Meeting new friends, joining new clubs, and living in a dormitory for the first time, everything was new and seemed to push me right out of my comfort zone. It did not take long to realize this was the time to set myself on the unventured trail, and that my true journey will only start when I wander beyond the boundaries of everything that made me feel safe inside.
Joining The Postech Times was another significant milestone in this journey. Until now, writing has been more of an internal pursuit for me, mostly as a way of organizing my thoughts to later revisit. As a reporter, I will write not only for myself but for all the readers out there, as a voice representing our school, on behalf of every student.
I take this path fully understanding the duties and responsibilities of a reporter. I will write articles not only for delivery but also as an open means of communication and debate. I will actively search for issues that need to be spoken about, whether it be accomplishments, problems, or critiques, using only objective facts and evidence to support them. I hope my articles will also bring together stories of various people, bridging the many experiences and insights from all around the world and sharing them for every reader to see.
As much as this opportunity is a big leap for me, I am ready to learn and improve during every step. During my journey as a reporter, I will explore and attempt new ways, some of which will succeed and some will not. Even when I get lost and wander, every trial will teach me how to get back up and on the path again.
There is no fixed destination, and thus there is a place for all dear readers to take part in this journey with me. Beginning my new college life and setting foot on the path of journalism excites me with all the possible things I could learn, new people to interact with, and most of all, how my articles could inspire people. I will write to deliver more than just facts; I want everyone reading them to find the spark that would make their own journeys meaningful. After all, it’s the joy of wandering that keeps us moving, and I want to enjoy every moment of mine.
