The Postech Times interviewed POSTECH Creators — Jung Min-kyung, Shin Chan (Mueunjae 25), Kim Eun-chae, Chi Eun-soo, and Kim So-hyun (Mueunjae 24) — along with Dayeon Yang from External Relations and Communications, who manages POSTECH Creators.
Please introduce the POSTECH Creators.
(Dayeon Yang) POSTECH Creators is a student Public Relations (PR) group that is launched to share the stories and values of POSTECH. I felt it was hard to find promotional content on POSTECH. That’s why I launched a pilot POSTECH Creators with a few recommended students. Initially, we focused on social media, but we realized that promotional content of our university was not centralized. So, we decided to launch an official blog. To create more text-based content for the blog, we formed a Reporting team this year. Currently, POSTECH Creators consists of two teams — the SNS and Reporting teams — with three members each.
What is the main difference between POSTECH Creators and other student PR groups?
(Dayeon Yang) One of the most well-known student PR groups is Alimi, which works with Admissions. They mainly focus on offline programs targeting prospective Postechians. On the other hand, POSTECH Creators aims to reach a broader audience by producing online content, such as visual and text content that informs the strengths and appeal of POSTECH to the general public.
What motivated you to join POSTECH Creators?
(Jung Min-kyung) It was very appealing that something I design and create could represent POSTECH to the outside world. I also thought that meeting various people through reporting would have a positive impact on me, so I decided to join POSTECH Creators.
(Shin Chan) When I was applying to POSTECH, I knew it was a great university, but I felt like not many people outside really knew what made it stand out. I wanted to share the unique atmosphere and strengths of our university, so I joined POSTECH Creators.
What is the next step for POSTECH Creators?
(Kim Eun-chae) The SNS team plans to create card news and reels that introduce university events and share stories about students. We are also planning content that shows POSTECH’s unique culture that only Postechians could experience. Just like our “Chill Guy” reel we posted last year, we want to stay on top of trends and keep things fun and relatable.
(Chi Eun-soo) The Reporting team plans to focus on delivering interesting and useful information. We are planning articles for POSTECH’s official blog, which is set to launch this September. We will cover topics like what our alumni are doing now, fun stories from POSTECH’s past — like how Jigok Pond was made — and more. We want to make content that even people outside POSTECH would find engaging.
What are your goals or hopes for POSTECH Creators?
(Kim So-hyun) In the short term, I would like to record and archive the stories of people on campus so future Postechians can look back on them. Ultimately, by sharing the voices and fun activities of our community with the outside world, I hope to show a more colorful side of POSTECH.
