The POSTECH Reader’s Club, organized by the POSTECH Academic Information Team, successfully completed its recruitment for the fall semester, and the reading groups are already actively engaging in discussions. This program, which opens for applications at the beginning of each semester, offers students a platform to develop intellectual growth through reading and discussion. The core goal of the Reader’s Club is to broaden participants’ perspectives by encouraging a deep understanding of books and lively debates with peers from diverse academic backgrounds.

This semester, the teams, composed of one mentor and around four mentees, select three or more books throughout the semester to read together. Monthly reading discussions take place to explore the themes in depth. The mentor leads the reading sessions, ensuring active participation, and is responsible for writing an activity report. Mentees, on the other hand, write reviews of the books they read and actively participate in discussions. These discussions are not just an exchange of opinions but an opportunity to dive deeper into the content and add new interpretations. Through this process, students both enhance their reading comprehension and develop the ability to organize and articulate their thoughts clearly.

Students participating in the Reader’s Club receive an e-book subscription to Millie’s Library for the entire semester, allowing them unlimited access to a variety of books on the platform. Teams are free to choose books across different genres and topics, making the reading experience both diverse and enriching. In addition, students who complete the program successfully are awarded Postechian Activity Mileage (PAM) points, and those who submit thorough book reviews are given additional PAM. Teams that show outstanding participation and submit detailed activity reports are eligible to win a 100,000 KRW cultural gift card, serving as a strong incentive for students to engage more actively in the program.

The Reader’s Club is not just about reading books. It is about fostering critical thinking and expression through the process of reading, writing reviews, and engaging in discussions. As participants from various academic backgrounds work together in teams, they share their interpretations of the books, enriching their own perspectives while gaining a deeper understanding of others. This collaborative process enhances not only their intellectual growth but also their communication and debate skills.

The Reader’s Club recruits new members at the start of every semester, and although the application period for this semester has already closed, the groups are actively meeting and leaving traces as they read. Students interested in reading and intellectual discussion are encouraged to apply at the beginning of each semester and take advantage of this valuable opportunity.

Open to all students who are eager to experience the world through books and expand their horizons through meaningful discussions, the POSTECH Reader’s Club plays a key role in promoting a reading culture and expanding the space for knowledge sharing on campus. With the support of the POSTECH Academic Information Team, this program continues to grow, providing new reading groups and enriching intellectual life at POSTECH. If you are looking to broaden your worldview through reading and grow alongside friends, do not miss your chance to apply for the POSTECH Reader’s Club at the start of the next semester.
