On the evening of Sept. 19, the POSTECH campus came alive as students gathered for the highly anticipated Eve Festival, a key event leading up to the 2024 KAIST-POSTECH Science War (KPSW) held on Sept. 20-21. Organized by the KPSW Advisory Committee, this year’s festival served not only as a celebration but as a rallying call for the entire community. The festival symbolized the beginning of two days of intense competition, drawing together athletes, students, and supporters in a spirited show of unity. Since the 2023 PKSW took place at KAIST, the 2024 KPSW was hosted at POSTECH, continuing the rotation. Teams and supporters from KAIST were invited to participate.
The festivities began with the distribution of supporters’ kits, including custom-designed T-shirts and cheering tools. Excitement filled the air as participants eagerly donned their gear, ready to cheer their teams on with enthusiasm. At 7 P.M., the formal program began, followed by the introduction of each sports team. The crowd, energized and ready, greeted each team with resounding applause. From football to Hacking, AI, LOL, baseball, Science Quiz, and basketball, every team was met with enthusiastic cheers. The athletes took to the stage, with each team captain delivering a brief but passionate pledge to bring home victory after a year of dedicated preparation.
One of the most memorable moments of the evening came when POSTECH’s cheerleading team, CHEERO, took to the stage. Known for their precise choreography and boundless energy, CHEERO did not disappoint. Their dynamic performance, featuring both veterans and promising recruits, set the tone for the night and left the audience inspired. The leader of CHEERO also took the stage, delivering a powerful message that called for unity and support from all. In addition to the cheerleading, a series of musical performances captivated the crowd. The POSTECH student music club VOCES and Blue Peanuts performed a selection of lively, festival-themed music, further energizing the audience and lifting the spirits of the athletes.
Complementing the performances were a variety of engaging pre-festival events that allowed students to actively participate. One highlight was the POKA-Toto game, where participants predicted the outcomes of the KPSW matches for a chance to earn rewards. Another exciting event was “Remember Member,” where students listened carefully to the team introductions and checked if they won through their entry forms. With prizes prepared, these events heightened the excitement, allowing students to fully enjoy the pre-festival in anticipation of the upcoming KPSW.
As the night progressed, the sense of anticipation for the upcoming KPSW only grew stronger. The festival concluded with a final round of performances and cheers, leaving the POSTECH community feeling more united than ever. The Eve Festival not only set the stage for two days of fierce competition but also served as a powerful reminder of the strength and spirit of the POSTECH student.
