A lot of POSTECH students are interested in technology. The Postech Times interviewed Tech-Review which provides students with experience related to technology and start-ups.
Please introduce the Tech- Review team
Tech-Review is an organization that works with the support of the POSTECH Student Entrepreneurship Team under the slogan “Make everyone see the possibilities of technology.” Even though we take a lot of classes, it is hard to recognize how technology is used in real industry. Tech-Review wants to bridge the gap. We inform the students about the value technology gives and encourage them to provide further value to technology through start-ups. With these goals in mind, six managers are running six regular programs together.
First, we manage Tech-Talk, a technology seminar, four times per semester. We invite professors who research advanced technology, or CEOs of start-ups, for seminars and have some networking time. Next, there is “Techathon” which is an Ideathon competition based on technology. Every Postechian can participate without building a team. We provide an experience in which students apply technology to business directly and expect to break down barriers in business start-up. Also, every year we publish a POSTECH technology startup magazine. The magazine includes technological trends and information about foundations inside and outside POSTECH. For additional work, we release news about technology trends via INFO-Tech and manage occasional programs such as the CES program and KARI tour.
Are there any advantages to being a Tech-Review manager?
I think having plenty of experience, which is difficult to do as an undergraduate student, is the biggest advantage. Of course, recruiting businessmen directly and participating in technology fairs is a valuable experience, but growing with the organization is also meaningful. Without anyone’s instruction, we plan, give feedback, manage, and improve by ourselves. It makes us more passionate about this organization.
What is the most complicated program to operate?
I guess it will be Techathon. We endeavor to provide differentiation factors and value for participants dealing with limited time and budget. There are countless questions about “Who do we have to provide?”, “Which activities should we work on?”, and “What output would we get?” Tech-Review is working hard to find our own answer. Please look forward to the 2025 Techathon!
Please give Postechians last remarks.
I feel there are more things we can attain than we think. We are way younger than we think. Just as technology has infinite possibilities, Postechians do too. Expand your potential with promising technologies shared by Tech-Review. Also, please look forward to the new Tech-Review programs! Thank you!
