As spring comes, with a new mindset, campus facilities are being reorganized. The reconstruction aims to inspect facilities in order to resolve students’ safety and discomfort. The 78 stairs, that most students pass to go to lectures, continued to shake; and the steps were repaired to solve this problem. The usage rate of stairs has decreased due to the construction of Haedong 78 Tower, but many people still use the stairs during school hours. Safety concerns were steadily raised due to the loss or shaking of stones despite continued frequent use. The scheduled three-day construction was extended because of rain. Subsequently the six-day repair work was carried out smoothly. An entry ban tape temporarily restricted the passage of students; however, the repair work is now complete.

In preparation for the upcoming summer, painting work to prevent insect damage, and to resist mold, is underway in the dormitory. It has been announced that management will take place in the public spaces of 10, 13, 15, and 16 and women’s dormitories, therefore the storage of goods in the common space should be controlled. In addition, bridge repair work at the main gate has commenced. The connection between the main gate and the road will be repaired, and the railing will be replaced. The road will be temporarily blocked from May 20 for construction.

Various facilities are under maintenance on campus, but still, some areas need further improvements. There have been various opinions about dormitories and libraries where students spend most of their time. In the case of GSR, a space for group studies, students were inconvenienced by ventilation problems. In the GSR, it is also difficult to manage proper temperature due to the lack of windows and air conditioners. When the season gets hot, and the exam period approaches, GSR is often used continuously. Some appropriate solutions for students are necessary at this point.

These days, when the daily temperature gap between day and night is large, there have been opinions that the dormitory air conditioners should be used freely rather than being controlled centrally. During the daytime, the room’s temperature keeps increasing due to the sunlight, but the small size of the window makes ventilation difficult. Also, some students raised their voices on the water quality problem of dormitories. Some rooms have rusty water which seems light brown. In response, the facility repair team expressed their opinion that there is no problem with water quality itself, but to improve this, the building’s water tank itself should be replaced. Currently, the student support team has revealed plans to establish a new educational building for the convenience of students. Student Affairs is also surveying the arrangement of convenience and welfare facilities. Students should be interested in the maintenance of facilities and actively express their opinions to improve their own lives.
