Professor Natasha Powell (Tasha) and Prof. Victoria Elliott (Tori) at the Division of Humanities and Social Sciences run the “Tea Time with Tasha and Tori”. They have been living in Korea for more than a decade and hope to share their knowledge with international students through a series of T-Time sessions. Below is an excerpt from a conversation with Prof. Tasha and Tori about the T-Time.
Through my [Tori] past experiences, I have realized that international students are thirsty for more information about POSTECH and Korea in general but are unsure where to get answers. Especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, those feelings of alienation were heightened, and they had no access to what previous exchange students had access to. As we [Tasha and Tori] have been in Korea for more than a decade and have gone through those questions ourselves, we feel the responsibility to look after, encourage and help the exchange students adjust to their new lives.
The session is managed in a casual way; we just let the conversation naturally flow. We have been running the program for a month. And since the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions have gone down, we have also switched our sessions to in-person. We were pleased to see that some Korean students have started to join, as it provides a chance to bond with each other in a non-classroom environment.
We are not sure how long the program will run, but we are not planning  to end it anytime soon. The ultimate goal for us is to step back so that the students can discuss things amongst themselves. The meetings take place on Tuesdays at 7 P.M. and anyone can sign up by email (eng-ta@postech.ac.kr) or by filling up a short form (at http://tinyurl.com/postechttime)
