On Mar. 12, Prof. Hwang’s research team published in the prestigious journal Science that human enzyme Teb4, participates in the hydrolysis of Rgs2 protein. Teb4 has a similar structure to the ubiquitin ligase (Doa10), the protease found from the yeast. However, the decomposition step of Rgs2 that practically controls its concentration had not been stated. The research team revealed it and confirmed they can regulate blood pressure by controlling the amount of Rgs2 in human cells.
Prof. Hwang said, “This research precisely revealed the decomposition process of Rgs2 protein in detail. This is expected to contribute to the research of cardiovascular syndromes caused by unknown blood pressure disorder and the development of more effective medicines.”
