On Sep. 21, Environment and Its NSU Communication was held at POSCO International Center and at the Hongil Kim Memorial Hall. The forum was created as a place where a variety of people such as scholars, environmentalists, Postechians, and the general public can discuss the lack of awareness and action for ecosystem dangers and natural disasters and propose according solutions. Some keywords of the conference were “the environment,” “dangers,” and “communication.”
This event was held in the honor of Rachel Carson’s 50th anniversary of publishing Silent Springs, a book that had initially raised awareness of the dangers of DDT. The event was hosted by POSTECH, STS (Science, Technology, and Society), KOFAC (Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science & Creativity), and Korea Federation for Environmental Movement (of TaeJon, and Pohang).
