Since the start of the semester, POSTECH’s campus dining services have changed to focus on expanding menu choices and adding convenient meal options. Oasis cafeteria has diversified its à la carte menu, while Haedong-Aurum Hall has begun offering sandwiches and salads. Meanwhile, e-Sports COLOSSEUM has suspended lunch service following the reassignment of kitchen staff. Students welcomed the menu diversification of Oasis, although the concentration of diners at Oasis early in the semester also caused long waits and difficulty finding seats.

The most notable change is the diversification of à la carte options at Oasis. Managed by the tenant company, Meal-All Co., Ltd., the cafeteria has introduced set meals and divided its à la carte selections into stations, including gimbap and ramen, udon and pork cutlets and flame-grilled dishes. Menus rotate daily, with weekly menus announced on the PODIUM Menu board and Meal-All’s Instagram account. The reorganization aims to give the POSTECH community more choices and satisfaction.

Alongside the changes at Oasis, POSTECH Dining Services is expanding convenient meal options. Wrap sandwiches, egg mayo sandwiches, vegan salads, and taco salads are sold at Haedong-Aurum Hall and the “coffee nearme” cafés on campus. Additionally, the introduction of bibimbap lunchboxes and delivery services are now available.

As part of these changes, lunch service at e-Sports COLOSSEUM, managed by POSTECH Dining Services has been suspended following the reassignment of kitchen staff. The team said that resuming lunch service is difficult. Rather than reallocating limited staff back to e-Sports COLOSSEUM, it plans to focus on providing a wider range of meals and services, including expanding convenient meal options.

Following the suspension of lunch service at e-Sports COLOSSEUM, more diners concentrated at Oasis during lunchtime. Early in the semester, students and other campus members faced waits of more than 30 minutes, and the hall had insufficient seating for the number of diners. During lunch hours, people waiting to order and those already eating were concentrated in the hall, making it difficult to find an empty seat. According to POSTECH General Affairs, the main factors were higher-than-expected demand before the new system had stabilized and a concentration of orders on à la carte dishes that require cooking after ordering. To address these issues, the vendor plans to adjust menu composition and cooking and serving processes based on usage data. Waiting times have gradually improved as operations stabilize. If the seating shortage persists, possible improvements within the existing space will be considered.

Students generally welcomed the expanded menu while also pointing out operational inconveniences. A freshman said, “I like that the menu has become more diverse while prices remain affordable. However, there is not enough seating.” A sophomore said, “I think I’ll often get sandwiches when I’m busy. Still, it is disappointing that lunch service at e-Sports COLOSSEUM has been suspended.”

POSTECH General Affairs stated that it aims to provide a variety of meals at reasonable prices at Oasis and will encourage the vendor to continuously monitor actual usage and student feedback. POSTECH Dining Services also said that it plans to expand students’ use of campus dining by providing affordable and tasty meals and continue broadening menu choices through communication with campus members. The changes therefore represent an ongoing improvement process, with menus and services adjusted based on usage data and community feedback.
