Is there a specific part of the POSTECH-KAIST Science War (KPSW) that the committee put extra consideration into?

The 2022 KPSW was a home game, but a lot of the parts of the event were reduced due to  COVID-19. To make up for the last home KPSW, we tried to expand the overall spatial scale and timeline of the event. For instance, the last KPSW held in POSTECH took place mostly at the gymnasium. This year we are expanding the spatial scale towards the auditorium, student union building, and the plaza in front of POSPLEX.

By expanding the scale of the event, we tried to keep the number of participants up. Also, by going with various venues and creating diverse events taking place at each location. By making the most out of the campus ground, we anticipate that participants will experience POSTECH campus properly and feel the size of the campus.

Were there any complications while preparing for the KPSW?

One of the many complications was that, since it was the first time utilizing the campus ground to this scale, we had to persuade many administrative members and participate in a lot of meetings. But thankfully they supported our idea and we got to utilize our campus on an unprecedented scale. One of the new features of this year’s KPSW includes the booth event in the student union building on the first day, where there will be booths run by various student clubs and our KPSW Committee. Also, an outdoor performance stage will be set up at the plaza in front of POSPLEX, where various performances by school clubs and featured artists will be held.

What is your hope for the participants of KPSW?

The last KPSW at POSTECH had many restrictions and limits, in both scale and the number of participants. Since COVID-19 is over, my hope for this year’s KPSW is that as many people as possible will participate and enjoy the energy of the event to its fullest regardless of the outcome. After COVID-19 people have become indifferent to school events and the school spirit. I hope this year’s KPSW becomes an opportunity for everyone to lift their spirit and feel that they are part of POSTECH.

Have there been any considerations made for foreign exchange students?

We made an English version of the KPSW Notion site in which we put everything about KPSW in, such as the match schedules and the information about various events. We also tried to make the activities of game booths very intuitive so that non-Korean speaker participants could participate without any language barriers. I hope this KPSW will be a chance to let foreign students know that POSTECH and KAIST are the best science and engineering universities in South Korea.
