These days, I am surprised that I am already in my fifth semester at POSTECH. While on campus, I felt that POSTECH was the perfect place to become a great scientist or engineer. However, this fact sometimes leads us to follow only the predetermined path. I feel sorry that some of my fellow students miss out on valuable opportunities and experiences at our university. Therefore, through this article, I decided to share the experiences that have enriched my university life. I hope this article gives you hope for your time and refreshes your days on campus.

Moving on to my personal story, the most significant part of my university life was my involvement in the POSTECH Broadcasting System (PBS), where I spent two years in the PRESS department. My experiences at PBS became the foundation of my college life. It is harsh to manage new programs and come up with creative ideas all the time. Also, as a director, I found it challenging to maintain my schedule and endure several dilemmas. However, I am confident that I earned priceless moments with our members. They are still unforgettable, and maybe until after I graduate. During these two years, the keywords that came to my mind were courage, responsibility, and affection for society, which later became a good foundation for my other activities.

Here is the story about “courage.” It was the driving force behind the establishment of “SWISH,” the foundation of the POSTECH women’s basketball club, SWISH, and the driving force behind its establishment. Last year, I aspired to join a sports club; however, due to the discrepancy in physical strength between male and female students, participating in activities such as playing games together was challenging. I started collaborating with a supportive senior, Seung-min, to form the club. We navigated through administrative processes to secure a supervisor and recruited up to 50 members to join us. Although it has only been a year, the club has actively participated in national competitions and exchanges with other clubs and the Pohang Basketball Association. Witnessing the positive impact of female students’ involvement in sports activities and activating POSTECH’s sports clubs has been gratifying. It has reinforced my belief in pursuing opportunities, no matter how small. Furthermore, it has provided a foundation for new experiences by fostering connections with individuals who share similar ideas.

In this article, I emphasize two important points. Firstly, the most significant aspect of these experiences is different from the practical developments or results achieved. Instead, what truly matters is the personal “values” gained through these engagements. I cherish the enrichment of individual values and perspectives. This does not mean that doing whatever is helpful. You should follow the road that you have led. Do not hesitate to find your pathway; you do not need to fear getting feedback. Leading your steps and moving on based on your judgments, not from others.

In addition, the people I have worked with – my partners and co-workers – form the most memorable and impactful part of these experiences. It is about what we accomplished together how my values evolved and the direction and harmony we shared as a team that stood out. These experiences have been crucial in shaping the person I have become, highlighting the importance of collaboration and shared vision in my growth journey. Through this chance, I would like to thank all for being passionate about specific communities or groups.
