Director of  Asia Pacific Center for Theoretical Physics (APCTP) Peter Fulde, received the Polish-German Marian Smoluchowski - Emil Warburg Physics Prize. Peter Fulde, who holds an additional position in POSTECH as a chair professor in the physics department, took an active part in the physics field of Germany and Poland. Thus, a physical society of Germany and Poland awarded this prize to him for achievements in solid state physics and complex system.

This prize is awarded to someone who has an impact on the pure and applied physics area. However, this award is only rewarded to a person who acted in both Poland and Germany. The prize’s name was originated from two great physicists, one being Marian Smoluchowski who was Poland’s pioneer of statistical physics. The other is Emil Warburg, a German professor who raised many Nobel Prize winners.

Peter Fulde also got the Tsungming Tu Award which is the most prestige prize in Taiwan for his achievements in solid state physics, especially superconductor and correlated electron.
