Professor Moonhor Ree (CHEM) has received the Taikyue Ree Academic Award for the year 2013 on Oct. This award is provided by the Korean Chemical So- ciety (KCS) along with the Taikyue Ree Commemoration Foundation to scientists who make distinguished contributions to the chemistry industry.
In the field of polymer chemistry and nanotechnology, Prof. Ree has been actively involved in the research of Synthesis of Functional and High Performance Polymers, and Structure, Morphology, and Surface/Interface of Polymers. Also, from 2007 until 2011, Prof. Ree was the Director of Pohang Accelerator Laboratory (PAL). During his term, he has successfully enhanced the performance of the Pohang Light Source (PLS).
The Award Ceremony was held on Oct. 17 during the KCS’s 112th National Meeting in Changwon Exhibition Con- vention Center (CECO). On Oct. 18, Prof. Ree gave a ceremonial lecture titled “Novel Functional Polymer Nanostructure Systems: Synthesis, Fabrication, Structure and Properties.”
