As the first chairman, Professor Sung H. Han (IME) took the lead in the establishment of the first Asian international conference of ergonomics, a study of providing optimum comfort and avoiding stress and injury from particular products. The conference was called the Asian Conference on Ergonomics and Design (ACED) and was held at Ramada Plaza Jeju Hotel from May 21- 24.
Prof. Han, an expert in the field of ergonomics, carries out research on maximizing safety and well-being as well as creating a pleasant living environment. This includes promoting convenient PC and mobile usage and developing technology that is safer and easier to use while driving.
Over 400 researchers and scientists from 14 Asian countries including China, Japan and Indonesia attended the conference. The purpose was to convert European-based researches on ergonomics and to promote the development of related products to fit Asian cultures and their general physique.
“I believe this conference will lead to the development of both research and the industry on ergonomics, especially the ICT industry” said Prof. Han.
