During the Sunrise Festival, a wide variety of booths provided unforgettable experiences for Postechians. These booths were run by various organizations related to POSTECH: The Advisory Committee of the Sunrise Festival (ACSF), the General Affairs and Safety, and Student Clubs. From 12 P.M. to 6 P.M., many kinds of booths offered students interesting activities. Also, between 7 P.M. and 1:30 A.M. of the next day, a lot of departments and clubs opened pubs. Some booths, such as “Street Karaoke” and “Ask Anything,” were run all day long, from 12 P.M. to 11:30 P.M. After enjoying a booth experience, students got a stamp from the booth’s staff and received goods prepared by the ACSF.

In the daytime, there were lots of fun booths for students. The ACSF presented a variety of special experiences such as “The Jigok Pond Race,” “Find PONIX,” “Dark Cafe,” “Haunted House,” and “Escape Room.” In “The Jigok Pond Race,” students organized teams and collaborated on given missions, promoting their friendships. In “Find PONIX,” students played games related to PONIX, the official character of POSTECH, with the ACSF staff while they waited in line for booths. The ACSF also operated “Pohang Land,” and “Best Marksman” booths. In “Pohang Land,” students played a board game and got cotton candy as a prize for winning. Furthermore, many clubs ran booths each showing their individuality. The Art Club Guerbois ran a booth for face painting, where students got a drawing of PONIX, or other characters, on their faces at a cheap price. At “Drink a Guitar,” the booth of Guitar-Hana, the acoustic guitar busking group, students played music games like “Absolute Pitch Test,” and “Guitar Quiz,” “Culture Muncher,” the booth of PBUD, the internationalization support organization of POSTECH, provided food from various countries around the world for free. Plus, the General Affairs and Safety prepared activities combined with safety education, aiming to raise awareness about safety among students.

On the first day of the festival, May 9, the Department of Mueunjae School of Undergraduate Studies (MSUS), Physics (PHYS), Chemistry (CHEM), Life Sciences (LIFE), Chemical Engineering (CE), Industrial and Management Engineering (IME), and astronomy club “Starlovers” opened pubs. On the second day, May 10, the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering (EEE), Material Science and Engineering (MSE), Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Mechanical Engineering (ME), Semiconductor Engineering (SEMI), and Student Union of POSTECH opened pubs. With performances of clubs and artists, students had a great time with their friends, junior and senior students, and even professors at pub booths. Students could enjoy visiting various pubs with unique characteristics. For example, the pub of CE was like an oil station, where all staff were wearing oil station uniforms. And the pub of ME got a lot of attention from students for the concept of “MEberick Military Academy”.

In parallel with performances, various booth experiences were an important part of the festival. Diverse activities from different booths gave students valuable memories. Booth experiences will remain a priceless experience not only for participants but also for staff. Lee Jong-min (Mueunjae 24), who worked in the “Games of Memories” booth, said, “I was deeply impressed by the kindness of everyone who participated in the festival.” He also commented on the clean-up process, “I found that the members of POSTECH were incredibly thorough with the clean-up, leaving hardly anything behind.” He added, “Experiencing the festival, which brought school members like a harmonious gathering, was very meaningful. I hope to participate in the ACSF again.”
