The Ministry of Science, ICT (Inform- ation & Communication Technology), and Future Planning designated 92 people as men of national merit in science and technology and held an award ceremony for the 46th Science Day on Apr. 21 and the 58th Info-communication Day on Apr. 22.
Professor Moonhor Ree (CHEM), manager of Pohang Accelerator Laboratory (PAL) from 2008 to 2011, led the project for performance enhancement of Pohang Light Source (PLS) and succeeded in upgrading to PLS-II. He received a presidential citation for his great contribution to research competitiveness improvement in science and industrial technology of our nation.
Professor In-sik Nam (CE) was in- augurated as the 41th chairman of the Korea Institute of Chemical Engineers in 2010 and made a great contribution to the deve- lopment of chemical engineering in our country. He received the Ungbi Medal (third-class) for his outstanding achievement in his field, which included working as the first Korean editor of Applied Catalysis B: Environmenta, international journal in the field of environment catalyst.
