From Nov. 9-10, the elections for representatives of Undergraduate Association (UA), and Female Undergraduate Association (FUA) were held. Absentee ballots were planned to be on Nov. 5, but the ballots were cancelled due to the absence of voters.
Kim Sang su (LIFE 13) and Shin Yong won (CSE 13) were elected as the 30th leaders of UA with 678 votes. Kim Ha eun (EE 14) and Kang Min ji (CHEM 15) were elected as the 28th President of FUA with 179 votes.
Both UA and FUA elections proceeded with a sole candidate team respectively. Conventionally, the elections for representatives of UA, FUA and Dormitory Resident Association (DRA) have been held at the same time. The election for representative of DRA, however, was postponed to next March. 56.15% of the undergraduate students participated in the election for UA and 88.98% of the voters agreed to elect the new representatives. The election for FUA had 68.51% participation of female students, and 90.40% of voters agreed on the new representatives. The voting rate was relatively low compared to last year, but the approval rating sharply increased.
On the first day of the election, about 40% of students voted. Although there were many worries about a low voting ratio, the result showed many Postechians still gave their attention to the representatives and actively participated to elect leaders of Postechians.
The elected representatives of UA spoke of their plans for next term in office that they will enhance the communication with Postechians and UA in various ways, and they will build connections between students and professors to help students find their future careers. Also, they want to increase the connectedness with alumni and students through frequent meetings. The representatives expressed their deep gratitude toward all the students with high approval ratings and showed strong will to work with students in making this prestigious university.
