GIFT Director Lee Jong su was elected as the president of The Korean Institute of Metals and Materials (KIM) for 2016. He graduated SNU and Polytechnic Institute of New York University and finally became the professor of the department of MSE in 1987. In 2009, he was also appointed as a member of the European Academy of Sciences, becoming the first Korean to receive this appointment.
KIM actively researches materials with a membership of over 15,000 in several industries, universities, and institutions. There are three journals: MMI, EML, and KIMM, published by KIM. All of them are registered on the SCI. Especially EML has been quoted over 3,977, making it one of the powerful journals in the world.
