AIST Selected Prof. De Cooman as Distinguished Member

POSTECH Professor Bruno C. De Cooman (GIFT) was selected as Distinguished Member and Fellow of Association for Iron and Technology (AIST). This award was established in 1975 to recognize an AIST member who has attained eminent distinction in advancing the technical development, production, processing and application of iron and steel, and who has performed meritorious service to the association. Prof. De Cooman is the first distinguished member associated with a Korean research center.
Prof. De Cooman is a Belgian native and world-renowned authority on the characteristic control of steel materials for automobiles. His alma mater is Cornell University in New York. After graduating in 1987, he went through Belgium Specialty in Application of Iron and Steel Research Center and Ghent University. He joined POSTECH Grauduate Institute of Ferrous Technology (GIFT) in 2005.
AIST is an academic association with 17,000 experts and researchers in 70 countries who study the development of iron and steel production, promotion, and management. The award ceremony will be held in May during the scholarship competition AISTech 2015 in Cleveland, U.S.A.
