The 14th long-march across the Korean Peninsula lasted from Aug. 9-19. A brief orientation session took place on the first day and the participants started marching from Aug. 10. They followed trails used by many scholars during the Chosun Dynasty era, who prayed for success in the examination called “Gwageo”; the test was part of the selection process for hiring bureaucrats. The route starts from Chungju and ends in Pohang, including Mungyeong Saejae Pass and Suanbo along the way. The reason behind choosing this specific theme is to allow fellow participants to empathize with scholars of the past.
