The second Dongkuk Humanities Lecture at POSTECH was held for three days this year: From Nov. 29 to Dec. 1. Dr. Wolfgang Welsch delivered the lecture called, “HOMO MUNDANUS.” The lecture was open to all Postechians.

Dr. Welsch studied philosophy, art history, psychology and archeology at Munich and Wurzburg University in Germany and worked as a philosophy professor from 1988 to 2012. He retired in Apr. 2012. During the lecture, he criticized modern ways of thinking, considered relationship between humans evolutionarily, and offered some solution to overcome modern error and illiberality. In addition, Prof. Ki-Sang Lee in Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, Prof. Muller from Trier University in Germany, Prof. Jung-hyun Kim, and Prof. Gi-heung Lee in Wonkwang University participated by adding comments during the seminar.
Dongkuk Humanities Lecture started last year with the belief that no development of science and technology exists without humanistic imagination. Therefore, POSTECH invites global scholars whose work has focused on human value in science and technology to deliver seminars at POSTECH.
