The Graduate School Student Association announced its semester budget on its homepage and looked for an administrator during the summer vacation. Each member has to pay 15,000 KRW. The membership fee was decided by adding the fees for conferences, goods, advertisement, and support and dividing by the number of members.
The Graduate School Student Association also recruited an administrative officer. The administrative position was open to anyone with a good sense of responsibility and basic document operation skills. The contract period is six months (Sep. to Feb.) and requires one to work weekdays from 9 A.M. to 6 P.M. The Graduate School Student Association interviewed those who passed the first cut from Aug. 20 - 24.
The Graduate School Student Association was created on Jan. 1 in 2012. It is a group that speaks for graduates’ opinions and aims to ensure the independence of academic research and growth of students’ rights. Every student involved is enrolled in a M.S., Ph.D., or M.S.-Ph.D. Integrative Program in POSTECH. Jong-Chan Lee (PHYS) was selected as the president of the group and a representative from each department was chosen.
Before its establishment, graduate students could not bring up their thoughts about decisions of the university and had difficulties gathering students’ opinions. When President Yongmin Kim was inaugurated as the POSTECH president, the group was finally instituted by the students. In about eight months, it has generated solutions for the student cafeteria issues and student medical insurance system problem.
