The team led by Professor Lee Jong-lam and Ph.D candidate Kim Ki-su submitted a solar cell flattening flexible metal plate technology for the 3rd National Green Tech Award, and was awarded by Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MIST). The National Green Tech Award is the best award in the field of green tech that the government set in 2009 in order to attain the vision of low-carbon green growth.

Sponsored by 21st Century Frontier R&D Program of Ministry of Knowledge Economy, the team of Prof. Lee researched the technology that transcripts surface roughness to metal plate without any flattening operation and developed an extremely flattening metal plate technology which is used as a flexible solar cell plate.

Flexible solar cell is easy to set up and due to the higher flexibility of plate it is able to cut off construction cost which is occupying 50% of solar battery costs.
