Three New POSTECH Fellows Inducted

Prof. Inhwan Hwang, Prof. Jong-Lam Lee, and Prof. Jin Kon Kim

POSTECH announced three new inductees into the POSTECH Fellowship on Aug. 16. Among the professors with secured tenure, Prof. Inhwan Hwang (Life), Prof. Jong-Lam Lee (MSE), and Prof. Kon Kim (CE) have received the honor of being inducted as POSTECH Fellows.

The fellows receive extended tenure up to 70 years of age and a special bonus of 50 million KRW. They are also assigned more graduate students and allotted additional laboratories. Even after 65 years of age, which is the typical age for retirement, fellows receive benefits such as professor apartments and a laboratory in which to instruct students.

Prof. Hwang was recognized for his pioneering research in the development of environmental stress-resistant plants and intracellular protein distribution system. He has also been involved with the investigation of Abscisic Acid formation pathway and cell evolution.

Prof. Lee has achieved fruitful results in vertical light emitting diodes (LED) and flexible organic LED. He also held prominent roles in important government projects and attracting POSTECH LED center.

Prof. Kim has produced outstanding results in block copolymer self-assembly, next generation data storage media, and neo functional nano materials using block copolymer thin film.

Established in Mar. 2009, POSTECH Fellowship marks its fourth appointment this year. With the new inductees, there is a total of nine members in the fellowship. The ceremony was held on Aug. 17 at the POSCO International Center.
