On May 5, the Women’s Association ROSE organised an event to help Postechians be familiar with male and female’s way of life through a kimbap competition. A total of seven teams, each team with at least one female participant, and 27 students gathered at the Outer near the Student Union building on Children’s Day, which is an official holiday in Korea.
All participants now being grown-ups, the contest was a reminiscence of childhood of going to picnics with kimbap in hand, usually prepared by the young ones and the mother. However this kimbap was no ordinary one-the contestants had to use some special ingredients that build up strong flavour to the kimbap like tuna, cheese, canned beef, ham and sesame leaves.

Quizzes were held related to communication between men and women. One of the contributors commented that questions about “when freshmen feel that their opposite sex is most uncomfortable while communicating” and “when men mostly feel that women are no longer mysterious” were particularly interesting.

Having obtained the seasoned ingredients, kimbap was quickly made. The judges gave scores according to taste and appearance. The first prize went to a group with Yang Hyun-jung and three other participants, who received Log House certificates. The second prize-winners were awarded with a bottle of wine, the third with a cup and the fourth with a bunch of grapes. Jung Sang-kyu, whose team placed second said, “The prize was unexpected. It was a great experience to enjoy Children’s Day with friends.”
