On May 14th the POSTECH President’s Cup English Skit Contest sponsored by the POSTECH Language Education Center was held in the PIRL Auditorium. Nineteen participants in five teams participated and acted out their skits.

The winner was a team titled Dislocation, consisting of graduate students from the Graduate Institute of Ferrous Technology (GIFT). The name of the team implied the theme of the skit, the dislocation between overseas students and surroundings. The team showed the difficulties, obstructions and seclusion that overseas students in POSTECH normally face in their everyday lives. With the outstanding command of language and plot composition, Dislocation not only presented the audience a whole lot of fun, but also taught a lesson that Postechians should keep in mind, that we should strive together for true globalization.

At the end of the contest, the host prepared for a raffle. Ten members of the audience each received a coupon worth 10,000 won as the raffle prize. With the end of the raffle, the winner for the essay contest was announced and received 300,000 won. The contest successfully ended with a big round of applause.

Jung Geun-soo, one of the members of Dislocation, said, “The composition of others teams’ plots was as good as ours. With this in mind, the school needs to promote the contest from the next year.”

Also, Prof. Dongwan Cho, one of the judges of the contest, in the closing speech, said that this year’s contest was the best of all ever since it began.
