Postechians and the Apple Developer Academy learners cross paths often as we share the POSTECH campus. The Postech Times interviewed Haejong Yu, the Operations Manager, to delve into the collaborative efforts between POSTECH and the Apple Developer Academy, aiming to magnify their combined impact.
Please introduce the Apple Developer Academy
Partnering with Apple and POSTECH, the first East Asian Apple Developer Academy @ POSTECH stands as a pioneering initiative, presenting a golden opportunity for aspiring developers to flourish within Apple's vibrant ecosystem. Following a transformative 9-month learning journey at the Academy, approximately 200 learners from different backgrounds can expect to work on real-world challenges. They'll forge connections within communities and industry networks by actively collaborating with team members and growing as t-shaped professionals with hands-on experience and various expertise, such as coding, design, marketing, and project management. The Apple Developer Academy welcomes applicants aged 19 and above, regardless of their educational background or prior coding experience. All the programs offered by the Apple Developer Academy are free.
What are the synergy effects of the POSTECH-Apple collaboration?
The synergy between POSTECH and Apple culminates in remarkable outcomes. Annually, 200 talented individuals from across the globe converge at POSTECH, contributing significantly to the local community. This collaboration enriches POSTECH’s diversity profile and global positioning, elevating its brand. Notably, current students and alumni benefit from a wider array of global opportunities, strengthening their professional pursuits.
How can we better interact with each other?
Fostering open communication is pivotal for us. We aspire to create an inclusive environment by promoting active engagement between various student organizations at POSTECH and the Academy. This year, Academy learners took part in campus festivals, showcasing their talents, singing, and dancing. Looking ahead, we anticipate more dynamic interactions between Postechians and Academy learners, including open networking events, joint hackathons, E-Sports, sports competitions, and increased participation in campus events.
Accordingly, on Dec. 4 and 5, showcase 2023 was held at C5 where 200 Academy learners celebrated the completion of curriculums and introduced their various outcomes and ideas. With various guests, including President Seong Keun Kim and Apple employees from all over the world, learners shared diverse results and sprouts of ideas that they have cultivated at the Booth Zone, which introduces their achievements, and also at the Communication Zone, which shares their unique stories.
