Following President Moo Hwan Kim’s 4 years at the office, Seong Keun Kim was elected the ninth President of POSTECH. The former President’s term ended on Aug. 31, and the new President Seong Keun Kim will serve from Sept. 1 to Aug. 31, 2027.
  President Seong Keun Kim received bachelor’s degree at the Department of Chemistry at Seoul National Universities (SNU), master’s and doctoral degree from the Harvard University. He served as an assistant professor, associate professor, and professor in the Department of Chemistry at Seoul National University from 1989 to 2022. He served as the dean of College of Natural Sciences at Seoul National University for four years from 2014 and served as chairman of the Samsung Science and Technology Foundation since 2019.
  The inauguration ceremony of the new president, Seong Keun Kim, took place at the POSTECH Auditorium at 11 A.M. on Sept. 5. Many honorable guests, including the POSTECH Chairman Jeong-Woo Choi and Pohang City Mayor Kang-deok Lee attended the ceremony.
  The president emphasized “the adventurous spirit of going where no one has gone before.” To achieve with such a pioneering spirit, President said, “Intellectual curiosity and the desire to know must be the air that the POSTECH family breathes across all areas of the university - teaching and research, entrepreneurship and social contribution.” To that end, he presented a university that is open both inside and outside as a unique model of POSTECH.
  Inaugural Commemoration for the new President was held at 7: 30 P.M. on Sept. 5, at the auditorium. Maestro Gum Nanse and New World Philharmonic Orchestra Concert performed to celebrate the president’s inauguration.
