In Korea, efforts to establish a university - city cooperation model have started to take place as a result of overseas cases that have succeeded in urban regeneration centered on universities. Sixteen university presidents and seven heads of local governments who met with the suggestion of President Kim Doh-yeon have presented the future vision of university - city coexistence to prepare for the next 30 years. This book, titled ‘Univer+City’, which means a combination of ‘Univer’ of university, and ‘City’ of city, introduces coexistence strategies of each region and suggests social participation.
23 leaders who participated in the ‘Univer+City’ suggested projects in progress at each city and university. Projects that universities and local or national governments want to ask of each other, such as; new proposals for co-living and development between universities and cities, and a vision for creative talent training program for the future. Although the details are slightly different, all emphasized the development of higher value-added businesses that highlight regional characteristics, create entrepreneurial ecosystems, and build a consultative group or platform for resolution of problems in cities and full-scale cooperation. In addition to these, they also emphasized that the national government should minimize the regulations, so as to save the specific characteristics of each region and enlarge autonomy and financial support.
