Changui-nuri (Creative-together) was held on Nov. 13 at the Jigok Community Center. The fair was held by National Institute for Nanomaterials Technology (NINT) affiliated organization Unlimited Imagination Center (UIC), and supported by Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning (MSIP) and Korean Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity (KOFAC). UIC was established to gather Pohang citizens’ valuable ideas and incubate them as a part of a creative economy industry, and described its role as a melting pot that integrates science and technology with other subjects such as literature, art, and culinary art. It was the first event of its kind, and the fair was mainly conducted by citizens. ‘Storytelling booth’ was made by elderly citizens, who gave vivid stories about the chronicles of Pohang. ‘Idea club booth’ was directed by housewives. They collected the proposals of citizens about real life problems, like bus routes, and received counsel from Professor Jin-Taek Kim (CiTE). POSTECH student club, Power-on, took part in ‘free creation lab’ and exhibited their works.
Despite the rainy weather, many POSTECH members and Pohang citizens, including teenagers who live nearby, visited and participated in Dream Fair. Even though the fair was a trial and preparation time was short, it produced valuable results and aroused expectations of next year’s fair.
