The fifteenth LG Biotechnology Competition Conference was held on Sep. 27 by the Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering at Sun Moon University. Participation is limited to under- graduate or graduate students majoring in life-chemical engineering or biotechnology. The problems came from five fields: molecular biology, applied microbial technology, enzyme engineering, biology separation and refinement, and cultivation and bio reaction engineering. Among the five fields, applicants could choose and solve four fields.
The awards consist of one first place prize (1,000,000 KRW and a certificate of merit), two second place prizes (500,000 KRW and a certificate of merit), three third place prizes (300,000 KRW and a certificate of merit) and five participation prizes (200,000 KRW and a certificate of merit).
In this competition, Park Tae Yoon (CE 11) was awarded second place. He said, “I’m glad about being awarded gracious reward. I’ll strive to be an excellent biological engineer on the basis of what I’ve learned through the university”. The award ceremony took place on Sep. 23.
