“Bangti”, Pohang Canal Festival, was held on Oct. 2-4 at the Pohang Harbor. Bangti, a big washbowl, is a word from Gyeongsang provinces’dialect. This festival was supported by Pohang MBC and everyone was welcome to participate.
There were five special programs in Bangti: making, running, buying, seeing, and riding. Participants could make sustainable boats using waste resources of industry, agriculture, and fishing. The purpose of this program was to reuse resources and graft science technology onto artistic values in Pohang, where the three aforementioned fields co-exist. Participants also could ride bangti, a boat used to transfer merchandise from one side of the harbor to the other, near Jukdo market. The direct market for local products and the camera contest were also held. Additionally, people could try various water sports, including water boat and jet-ski.
This was Pohang’s first harbor festival and it, with the help of the Pohang Fireworks Festival, is expected to make the harbor more attractive.
