My ultimate goal is making every Postechian feel comfortable and interested about reading English parts of school newspaper. In order to do this, I think following factors in writing an article are indispensable.
First, my article will be objective and give readers no prejudice that might harm their understanding of the article. If my article were so subjective that I give readers only information needed to suggest my opinions, they would have a hard time figuring out the whole situation.
Also, I will always endeavor to choose succinct expressions in my article, making it more readable and clear in meaning. Most Postechians’ native language is Korean, and English is especially not that comfortable to those students of natural science and technology; therefore, the more concise my expressions are, the easier readers will understand what I mean to say. No one wants to patiently read writings consistings of a myriad of fuzzy sentences. Also, no one likes having to open up an English dictionary to understand the school newspaper.
Last but not least, English newspaper should be something enjoyable to read. This deals with what I write rather than how I write. Most people look for interesting topics, which draw their attention. Topics can be diverse, from daily lives on campus to POSTECH’s interschool activities or policies. Therefore, in order to satisfy everyone’s taste, I am going to write articles which span over a variety of topics.
With these efforts along with help from seniors and friends, our Postech Times will be a far more interesting and influential newspaper.
