For POSTECH students, the upcoming winter break marks more than the end of fall semester. In January 2013, thirty Postechians will be travelling to Ethiopia, Africa to volunteer for three weeks.
Undergraduate Student Affairs will start the overseas volunteer program, sponsored by Woori Bank, to help students grow into great talents contributing to the nation and humanity with the core values of honor, commitment to society, and leadership.
The project will be run for approximately three weeks in January 2013 in Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia in Africa. Students will teach children at local schools, build houses, and do manual work.
Thirty students will be selected from one hundred candidates of undergraduate and graduate students. The selected students will be announced on Nov. 5. All one hundred candidates passed document screening and participated in an interview in which they were asked about their passion, originality, concreteness of plans, and purpose for volunteering.
The welcoming ceremony will be held at POSTECH Jan. 8.
