On Sep.10 the Institute for Edge of Theoretical Science (IES) was established at POSTECH with the hope of leading theoretical science. The IES plans to conduct pure scientific research centered on mathematics, astronomy, materials science and complex systems with world renowned scholars and global talent.

The head of the IES, Professor Seunghwan Kim from the Department of Physics said, “The IES will strongly emphasize independence and free quest for knowledge from young and accomplished scientists. It will become an institute where they can genuinely carry out research based on curiosity.”
