Technology, Entertainment, Design (TED) is a global lecture meeting event held by an American nonprofit organization. TED invites authoritative experts from various areas and lets them deliver special lectures of any topic. The lectures are recorded and posted on YouTube, with subtitles of more than 100 languages, accessible by anyone for free, as according to its moto of ‘ideas worth spreading’. Although Korea does not have license from TED, it can host TEDx, which is a similar lecture meeting event independently organized with official license from TED. However, there are many complicated prerequisites for holding TEDx. For example, the hosting organization needs to show introduction video of TED and at least three of TEDTalks videos. Also, every lecture must be recorded and posted on YouTube. There have been three TEDx events so far in POSTECH. The third TEDx was held last year November, hosting six well-known speakers, including Lee Nam-hui, the CEO of Stress Company. The 4th TEDxPOSTECH is to be held on Nov. 4, at Posco International Conference Hall. The early bird registration was conducted on Sep. 20, which has 50% discount of the registration fee, limited to 30 people.
