Professor Kim Dong-pyo (CE)’s research team has successfully designed a chemical process in which carbon dioxide is transformed into energy with higher efficiency, by using the ‘flow’ between gaseous and liquid layers. The research team developed the silicon nanowire structure that creates strong repulsion between water and oil, and anchored the catalyst at the top which works as a solvent that collects carbon dioxide and renders chemical transformation. Prof. Kim said, “This research holds significance in transforming high-density carbon dioxide into high value products, and boosting the research based on carbon dioxide that had fallen behind.
