On Nov. 30, the second contest, called ‘Let me introduce my research,’ was held at the newly constructed building C5. The contest is inspired from a speech contest, ‘Fame Lab,’ where competitors explain their scientific knowledge using everyday tools and make audience understand the knowledge. Similarly, the competitors of this contest should explain their research to the audience without using Power Point.
This contest began with Professor Kim Beom-jun (SKKU PHYS)’s lecture about the relation of science, society, and communication explaining how his research was used for social problem. With Prof. Kim, Prof. Kim Jin-taek in the department of Creative IT and Engineering, and Hwang Young-jun who was awarded the grand prize in Fame Lab Korea 2016 participate for grading all the competitors.
In this contest, participants explained how modeled computer recognizes human feeling, what urine tells us by bio-marker, how fatigue failure occurs, how diseases are cured from the beginning using proteins, how to examine one’s health by analyzing the element at the end of dried coffee bell, why White colors are exposed to skin cancer than Black colors, how force is used for watching invisible elements, what is Nano-particle, and how to examine one’s cancer. Among these research, Jeong Hwa-pyeong (ME Ph.D. Integrated.) who presented how to examine one’s health by analyzing element at the end of dried coffee bell which is called coffee ring effect was awarded the grand prize.
