This column should be the last column I write. It has been two years since I first entered The Postech Times. Every writing class in POSTECH, I have taken finishes with reflective writing. This column will be my reflective writing.
Before I started writing this column, I collected all the articles, mails, and photos I have written. My first article was ‘ New Reporter’s Resolution’  in The Postech Times No.81. Every reporter who enters The Postech Times writes this column. I read the article again, and it gave me a special feeling. I wrote that I wanted to become a Chief Editor with incessant effort. I wondered the feeling I had thought about it. How can I call that a feeling? Expectation? Ambition? It was my true heart. I am a little sad to leave The Postech Times before becoming the Chief Editor, but I will always remember the true heart that I had at the time.
After reading my first article, I read my other articles. I have written for a total of 20 newspapers (No.81 to No. 99) with fellow reporters, and may contribute to a few more in my remaining term. All the article subjects were selected through fierce discussions. Frankly speaking, not every article was my best. Some articles were not perfect due to the lack of my experience, and some articles had insufficient space in newspaper or time for writing article. “How to Start a Start-up in POSTECH?” (in No. 87) was the most unsatisfactory, but it was also the one into which I put the most time and effort in my time at The Postech Times. I planned interviews enthusiastically. I got a lot of documents and interviews from both POSTECH and other universities like KAIST, GIST, and SNU. However, I was not able to deal with all the information that I had, and finally I just wrote article mainly about start-up supporting system in POSTECH and introduced some programs in other universities. I was not able to implement my original design, in-depth analysis. At that moment, I compromised with an ‘easy article,’ but it remains as a shame nowadays.
Writing university newspaper articles in English was definitely a special experience to me. Including topic selection, I have learned so many things from The Postech Times. I have learned how to write news stories and request mails, how to take an appropriate photo for newspaper, how to make an interview appointment, etc. I have spent a lot of time in The Postech Times and The Postech Times has provided many learning experiences and memories. Moreover, interviews with various people in and out of POSTECH helped me improve my intuition. Their stories were another lecture, and they were my teachers. It was a true honor to contact with opinion leaders in Korea as a reporter. I hope many Postechians could join this activity. It is a definitely worth the time and effort. Thank you, The Postech Times.
