Atomic clock is the most accurate clock currently existing, by using the period of energy waves radiated or absorbed by atoms. Max Planck Korea-POSTECH Professor Dong eon Kim has successfully identified the phenomenon of precisely controlling Interface Plasmon which is utilized in optical technology using lasers. When laser light is emitted on metal surface, the superficial electrons vibrate at a constant frequency. This Interface Plasmon phenomenon renders the electrons on metallic surface to have a certain level of energy and interacts with the lights of exactly overlapping energy waves only. Kim Seungcheol, the Junior Group Leader of Max Planck Korea-POSTECH said “Interface Plasmon controlling technology is a huge step which can possibly lead to bio sensors using Interface Plasmon in the future.”
