Recently, people’s interest is increasing on flexible electronics such as foldable tablet PC or attachable health checker. Plastic semiconductors have been expected to replace silicon semiconductors in flexible electronics due to its light weight and flexibility. However, N-type plastic semiconductor’s stability and charge transfer speed was not enough to be commercialized.
A POSTECH and Gyeongsang National University (GNU) joint research team has succeeded in developing more stable high-mobility N-type semiconductor. The research team includes Prof. Kilwon Cho (POSTECH), Dr. Boseok Kang (POSTECH), Prof. Yunhi Kim (GNU), Dr. Ran Kim (GNU). This research was published in Journal of the American Chemical Society. New n-type conjugated polymers are expected to be utilized in not only flexible displays but also organic solar cells and bioorganic sensors. This research was conducted with the assistance of the Center for Advanced Soft Electronics.
