Professor Hae Geon Lee, a professor emeritus of POSTECH GIFT was selected as an honorary member of The Iron and Steel Institute of Japan (ISIJ). Prof. Lee was appointed to POSTECH in 1997 after finishing his BA in metal engineering in SNU and Ph. D in metal engineering in University of Washington. He contributed to the development of steel industry in Korea by playing a leading role in establishing the first and the only graduate school specialized in steel. Admitting his pioneering research in the field of physical chemistry for steel manufacturing contribution to development of human resource and academic exchange in both Korea and Japan, ISIJ decided to grant him the honorary membership, which is exceptional for foreigners.
