A high technology “lab on a chip” is used for the diagnosis of several diseases with a drop of blood. However, as it must divide the proteins and the DNA inside the blood and diagnose correctly, it is known as the hardest study in the field of biochips.
A POSTECH research team consisting of Professor Geunbae Lim (ME), Hyungkook Jeon (ME Ph. D.) and Kim young kyu (ME integrated) developed related technology, atomic continuous separation, and published the results in Scientific Reports. They also investigated the principle of hydraulics, and electronic forces when an atom comes to the microchip. This separation technology uses external electrodes, which are simpler and have higher efficiency than the previous electrodes. This research was conducted with the assistance of the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning and NRF.
