From Feb. 15 to Feb. 26, POSTECH DANE held the first is Probabilistic Risk Assessments (PRA) in collaboration with the Korea Institute of Nuclear Safety (KINS) and Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI). This school was held at the room 503 of POSTECH Tae-Joon Park Digital Library. PRA makes assessments through probabilistic methods and makes more realistic results about the degree of risk.
Since 1975, PRA has been recognized as the most realistic method to assess the safety of a nuclear power plant. These assessments are also expected to increase nuclear plants’ safety systems, like disposal of radioactive waste products.
The purpose of this PRA School is developing the ability to conduct minimum PRA, aimed at those who are doing nuclear safety work.
According to POSTECH DANE, POSTECH can contribute to securing nuclear safety by fostering PRA experts thorough PRA School.
