POSTECH-KAIST Science War has been held every fall since 2002. The first tournament took place in KAIST and since then, it was held alternatively in each school. Interestingly, the way people call this tournament differs depending on the school they belong to. It goes by the name of “Pokajeon” in POSTECH while it is called “Kapojeon” in KAIST, each school trying show their superiority to the other.
There were eight events in the 14th POSTECH-KAIST Science War, with eight main events and one extra. The events were hacking, badminton, basketball, artificial intelligence, E-sports, baseball, science quiz, and football, with badminton being the extra. The first 5 events were played on the first day and the rest on the second day. Much to Postechains’ regret, 4 out 5 events end with a defeat on the first day. On the contrary, the players managed to catch up by winning all events except baseball on the second day. Thus, the 14th POSTECH-KAIST Science War finished with the score of 300 to 400, but leaving much to be desired, a victory for KAIST.
Still, it can be said that the tournament ended in great success in that there was no accident and nobody was seriously injured. As a whole, this contributed to the total of 8 victories for KAIST (POSTECH has 5 victories. In 2009, there was no match because of swine flu). Regardless of the outcome of the events, POSTECH-KAIST Science War holds its significance in that the top 2 universities in the field of science and engineering have an opportunity to maintain and even strengthen the bond between them.
