I wanted to do something challenging during summer vacation, so I participated in the "rail-ro". The biggest advantage was that I could enjoy the trip with my friends at a low price. Our plan was to visit Jeonju, Seoul, Yangpyeong, and Gangneung. We had a lot of good foods in Jeonju, visited Cheon-an on our way to Seoul, and tried paragliding, which provided us awesome experiences.  We really looked forward to hanging out at the beach in Gangneung but security guards did not let us in due to high waves. However, we still managed to secretly play near the beach. This was actually the first time for me to join "rail-ro" program without many plans. However, I was able to have more fun simply because it was unplanned, and I also learned some survival skills as well as the ability to deal with various unexpected situations.

There is a familiar adage, “Do not put all your eggs in one basket,” but I think we distinctly made our full efforts on basketball for three weeks, as a finale of the summer vacation. As the
"POSTECH-KAIST Festival" is coming up, POBBA, like other various clubs, prepared for the contest To prepare for the basketball match against KAIST, we had a camp training for three weeks. We casted coaches and got systematic training. Though the time we had was very tough and tiring, we were able to improve the game ability and strengthen ties among the club members. I believe that I could handle this hard training thanks to the encouragement of other members.
Through the training, not only individuals’ skills but also POBBA’s team unity improved. Thus, I could set the same aim about this year’s POSTECH-KAIST basketball game even though I am not a starting line-up member. I believe the team POBBA will get better and better until the game starts. I think the experience I had this summer may remain in my memory for a long time.

During this summer vacation, I worked at Burger King and a private educational institute because I wanted to be financially independent. I also wanted to experience many things through work. At Burger King, my job was to do the dishes, prepare ingredients, cook patties, fry potatoes, and make various kinds of burgers. Since it was my first part-time job, all of these things were fresh to me, so it was very interesting and fun. Even though it was interesting, sometimes l had a hard time working there because l had to stand up for 4-5 hours in a hot weather. But fortunately I worked with good and kind people, our crew. Most of them were not our university students nor older than me. I am happy that I made some good friends by working there. I have saved up some of my salary and I am still going to earn more money so that I can travel around the world next year. I'm really looking forward to it!

POSTECH annually holds POSTECH Scholarship for Undergraduate Research to support students’ research. In my case, I conducted the research for developing 'Controllable Radiosonde system using rocket'. My role was to develop a module that obtains the data of a rocket and controls the rocket. It took me over two months to make a prototype of the modules. I spent a lot of time studying MCU and sensors with Google, and completed a module with a few functions.
I could not do other activities during that time, but the time spent on research gave me priceless experiences. I recommend the program to all students who have a interset in research that they can become totally immersed in.

I went trip to the Hanoi for 5 days. Unfortunately, because of the bad climate I could not see many things as a schedule I set for the first day. I started this trip as a backpacking trip but it was really hard to walk along the boiling hot road. So I applied to a one day tour for the rest of the trip. During the rest of the trip, I visited the Tam Coc and the onshore Ha Long Bay—where I could see the blue sky, vast mountains and crop fields, and liberating views. On the last day I roamed the city Hanoi and I became familiar enough with the area that I could order rice noodles on the street. The trip was over, and I went back to Korea. My first backpacking abroad missed the plan a lot (taxi fare bomb), but it gave me an  unforgettable and exotic memory.

Have you heard about glamping? It is a combination of glamorous and camping. It was the theme of my family break. Until now, my parents were always exhausted during vacation because they had to prepare everything from foods to tiny things of the trip. However on this vacation, they could entirely enjoy the trip. Glamping gave us everything we needed like meat and tools and the tent reminded me of a house. We prepared just watermelon and some games. On the mountain we just ate delicious food, talked, and played games throughout the night. It was so nice and comfortable. Maybe some Postechians give up taking a break because they are so busy. But glamping could give them a memorable experience without any preparation or stress.

During the two months of vacation, I used most of my time playing games and watching movies. It can look like a waste of time but, I don’t regret it because it always made me happy. The time I spent was not worthless, but a chance to refresh myself. Even if it is regretful in the future, it is a good experience for me because I can plan the other vacation better, thinking, “I should never waste my time. I will use this vacation to develop myself.”
Through this summer vacation, I learned that it is more important to think positively whatever you do rather than to plan and do something good.
