At the POSTECH Counseling Center, which is located on the second floor of Hogil Kim Memorial Hall, interpretation counseling for freshmen has been offered since Apr. 1. Freshman completed the MMPI-II examination at the freshman orientation on Feb. 26. The interpretation counseling about MMPI-II promotes self-understanding and can help students adapt to the demands of university life, especially in POSTECH. Registering for this service is simple. Students just need to sign up to reserve time for the interpretation. The counseling takes 50 minutes per week, and all information is strictly confidential. This interpretation counseling is only being offered for Korean nationals at this time.
MMPI-II is multi-aspect personality examination made by Hathaway and McKinley at Minnesota University Hospital in U.S.A. in 1943. This examination has been used in Korea since  2005 because MMPI-II collects extensive information about participants. This is actually a mental examination so it is hard to say how accurately it measures general characteristics. This examination assumes that the concept of the categorization of pathologies may be applied to general people. If freshmen want to know more about themselves, this could be a very helpful service.
