ILJU School of Mathematics, From Korea to the World

Pohang Mathematics Institute (PMI) held the 9th and 10th ILJU School of Mathematics on Feb. 2 - 6 and 14 - 17. This winter school was supported by the ILJU Academy and Culture Foundation and the National Research Foundation of Korea. Its topics were “Banach Spaces and Related Topics” in the 9th school and “Number Theory” in the 10th school. Many graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and professors participated in the topic-oriented discussions. Anyone interested in these topics was welcome to attend. 
In the 9th school, professor Maestre (University of Valencia) and Prof. Mastylo (Adam Mickiewicz University) were invited as lecturers. Also, Prof. Dong Hwa Shin (Hankuk University of Foreign Studies) and Prof. Jun Myeong Jang (University of Ulsan) were invited and the four professors introduced cutting-edge research topics. Yon Sung Choi, the director of PMI, commented: “Through discussing cutting-edge topics in the field of functional analysis and number theory, the ILJU School of Mathematics is expected to help young Korean research groups reach the global level.”
