Professor Jean-Pierre Serre, the Fields medalist in 1954,  gave his lectures to Postechians four times at 4P.M. on Mar. 4, 6, 10, and 12 and had a review time on Mar. 13 in Mathematical Science Building room 404.
The lecture of each day was about Finite Group Theory, Modular Forms Modulo 2, Cohomological Invariants and Trace Forms (two-part lecture), respectively. On Mar. 13, the last day of his coming, the class  had POSTECH MATH Colloquium at the same time and the same place to listen to Linear Representations of Finite Groups.
In addition to the Fields Medal, Jean-Pierre Serre also received Woolf Prize in Mathematics in 2000, and Abel Prize in 2003. The three prizes are arguably as prestigious as a Nobel Prize in Mathematics. The Fields Medal is given to a mathematician  under 40 once four years, and the Woolf Prize in Mathematics and Abel Prize are given every year without any restriction on age.
The lecture was allowed to anyone who are interested in the subjects after contacting the Mathematics Department office or Pohang Mathematics Institute (PMI).
